CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns in Downtown Seattle
Enhance Your Smile, Boost Your Confidence with Dental Crowns
At the office of Seattle Dental Associates, we have over a decade of experience installing dental crowns for our patients in Seattle.
Crowns can be a great solution for both structural and cosmetic issues. They are available for most patients, including children. When you visit our office, our dentist will take a look at your teeth and determine just what needs to be done to fix a damaged tooth. Most work can be done in the office and in some cases we can create your dental crowns in a single visit.

When are Crowns Needed?
There are a variety of different dental situations that can call for a crown. At the office of Seattle Dental Associates, we assess each person’s dental needs individually so we can provide the right dental care for their unique needs.
A dental crown is most often used:
- With dental bridges – A crown is often placed on both teeth that will support a bridge as a means of providing support.
- To restore already broken teeth – Broken teeth can be capped with a crown to prevent further damage and provide a more secure surface in the mouth for chewing.
- To protect weak teeth from breaking – Crowns add stability to teeth that are already weakened and can help keep them from additional breakage.
- As a cosmetic cover for misshapen or severely stained teeth – Crowns cover the tooth and present a perfect substitute for stained or badly shaped teeth.
- To cover a tooth that has a large filling with little tooth surrounding it – Teeth that have a large filling in the middle may crack; crowns can prevent this from happening.
Crowns can be made to match your tooth color for a more seamless appearance.

How We Create a Crown in a One Visit?
- Consultation & Exam
First, you will meet with Dr. Baker who will examine your tooth and identify the appropriate treatment. If the best course of treatment is a dental crown using CEREC, we will prepare the tooth for restoration. - Digital Impressions
Next, our experienced CEREC dentists will use a 3D color camera to capture a digital image which is then projected onto a computer so we can start the design. - Design & Create
Using the CAD/CAM technology, we design a virtual restoration. Once the design is complete we send the data to the milling machine and your custom-made crown is fabricated in 10-15 minutes. - Glaze & Place
Next, we place the crown in your mouth to ensure a comfortable fit and bite. The last step of the process is glazing and bonding the crown into place. Once this is completed you get to leave our practice with a beautiful, functional smile.
Getting a Dental Crown
A dental crown is a type of cap that fits over an existing tooth to enhance its look and/or provide it with support. In the event that one of your teeth becomes compromised or infected, you may need to have a crown placed on top of the tooth to protect it and give it additional stability. When you visit our office, you can rest assured you’re getting top-notch dental services you can rely on at the hands of experienced professionals.
If one of our dentists decides you need a crown, we’ll talk with you about the overall process and set up a time to complete the work. Since dental crowns need to fit over a tooth in your mouth, the tooth may need to be made smaller and shaped so the cap will fit properly over the top of it. Measurements will also need to be taken so the final crown can be made. Using the most advanced scanning and milling technology, we then fabricate your crown while you take a short break and you leave our office that day with your crown in place and with no need for a follow-up appointment.

CEREC Dental Crowns FAQs
What is CEREC?
CEREC, short for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, is a machine that allows your dentist to design and mill dental restorations chairside so you don’t have to return for a follow-up appointment or wear a temporary crown for weeks while waiting for a lab to fabricate your crown. Our dental professionals use CEREC’s 3D and CAD/CAM technology to design a virtual restoration (either an onlay, inlay, bridge, or crown) without having to take impressions. When used in tandem with our milling unit, we can completely finish a restoration in a single appointment.
Why Would I Need a CEREC Crown?
There are many reasons why you might need a dental crown including:
- to finish a dental implant
- if you have extreme discoloration of a tooth
- severe tooth decay
- a broken, chipped or damaged tooth
- after a root canal
Are CEREC Crowns Covered by Insurance?
Some dental insurance plans may cover the full cost of traditional and same-day dental crowns but most do not cover 100% of the cost. In most cases, if you have an HSA or FSA, you can use this to cover the remaining cost of your crowns. Since there are so many different insurance coverage options for dental crowns it is best to speak with your dental insurance provider about your coverage options prior to scheduling your dental crowns appointment.
Is the CEREC Crown Durable? How Long Do They Last?
There is no difference in durability between CEREC one-visit dental crowns and traditional dental crowns. In fact, these crowns typically last 10-15 years. With good oral habits and twice-a-year dental exams and teeth cleanings it is possible to have the crown last longer than 15 years.
Are CEREC Crowns More Expensive Than Traditional Crowns?
Most insurance companies will cover CEREC one-visit dental crowns similar to how they would cover traditional crowns. The long-term advantages of CEREC crowns are:
- Less risk of recurrent decay due to the bonding method
- The material is very durable and healthier for your gum tissue
- Less tooth structure is removed using the CEREC method
Are Crowns the Only Restorations Done with CEREC Technology?
CEREC technology can be used for a variety of one-visit dental restorations including inlays, onlays, and bridges. The restorative dental treatments with CEREC focus on rebuilding teeth compromised by decay, oral injury, malfunction, root canal therapy, infection, or multiple fillings. Dr. Baker believes in providing excellent patient care by continuously learning about new technology and staying up to date with new advances in the field of dentistry.
